There are a few movies that have had an impact on how I view various issues, such as Jean Renoir's "La Grande Illusion", which, among many things, shows that national identity can be determined by an imaginary line between two nations, and Gillo Pontecorvo's "La Battaglia di Algeri", which, to me, shows how people can react to a occupying force.  Although this movie is about Algeria's fight for independence from France, it's also a good analogy of US forces in Iraq.

Re: Have any movies influenced your view of the world?
I really enjoy movies, and I'm sure there are quite a few that have really caused a shift in my perceptions and my ways of thinking. The one movie that really sticks out to me though, is FIGHT CLUB with Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. I watched when I was rather young, so I think it had a greater effect on me than it might otherwise have had. I remember for the longest time trying to imagine the practicalities and motivations of destroying everyone's financial records. I was only in fifth grade, but I was aiming to understand just exactly how 'ridding the world of debt' and therefore classicism based on socio-economics (to an extent) would change the world. To this day, I usually have two main solutions to any problem. One of them is acceptable and within reason as a solution, but I always come up with a radical one, one that causes a major shift to something more. That's how FIGHT CLUB changed me.

Any influential resource can make an impact depending on the development stage an individual may be experiencing.

I fell in-love with cinema at a very young age, and the craft has definitely influenced me. Yet more at the given time, then continually, without variance.

For me it is the same with music and other defining experiences. I decided early on to be open to the arts as they evolved, movies being one of the earliest. Vs. acquaintances who still favor the music, movies, etc. from an earlier development stage or insist that evolution and change (inevitability's) in anything should not happen or be slowed in some manner.

Today, for a combination of reasons, I don't see movies as often as I once did. One of the reasons is I look for the passion and energy readily-evident from those who produce, direct and create, finding results more often "formulated" in recent time, than independently inspired.

Vanilla Sky

Changed my view on life actually.  It might sound silly, but the way that movie unravels makes me think about my own life.  And espcially at the end, it really makes you look at things in prespective.  You think about what is really important in your life.  "What is any life without the pursuit of a dream?"  It makes me not sweat the small stuff that we can get so tied up about and appreciate every moment we have.  Just because your rich and famous, a bad decision can still scar you for life.  To me, its a very moving movie.
