Will fuel, energy prices eventually force the world into globel green energy?

I live in Nova, Scotia the highest taxed province in canada, and am very aware every  day of the cost of home heating fuel, gas, or energy of any kind.  I along with prob. alot of other ppl realize that we will eventually reach a point of critical economical failure. Unless minimum wage or wage increases in general inflate at a balanced rate to reflect the price of energy, we will reach this point.  The lower class and even the middle class are seriously feeling the affects of this now.  to the point of relocating to save on fuel, to switching over to anything that is affordable to save on energy. So when will this critical time happen? will the government have to implement change at a faster rate to counterbalance economic failure or what?
