Do we really want to know what the origin of life is?

When our methods become advanced enough to provide a solid answer to this "eternal" question, what then?  As far as we have come in the last few hundred years as a thinking society, are we still too emotionally primitive in mindset to handle such a revelation?

It could be here sooner than we think.  Genetic science is poised to unleash all sorts of possibilities, whether we're ready or not.
