Why are Atheists considered bad people?

Seriously why are they considered bad people? Most of the people who consider them as bad people are Christians. Why? Is it because they don't believe in god? Who knows. Some people say that Satanists are considered better than Atheists maybe because they know god is there but they prefer to worship satan instead. What do you think?
