Is it fair to ask developing countries to go green?

We've had centuries to pollute. Shouldn't the developing world have a chance?

Re: Is it fair to ask developing countries to go green?
This is a great question. Yes. We must. In some ways, developing countries have a blank slate while we have to work backwards to fix things. I'm generally not for government regulation, but developing countries must have a standard to work from.

It is not a question of fair, but of future. We must develop greendustries and a sustainable future or this is all moot. He makes an excellent point that we have the capability and responsibility to act now to ensure developing nations succeed in advancing well through proper growth. Thomas Fortenberry

Although developed nations have had their time to pollute they also didn't know what effect they were having on the world. So developing nations need to do what has to be done to survive but at the same time help to save the world they are a part of.

You are right on! You are the first person to address the real issue!  What we call development and what human development should be are not the same thing.  If we are saying that the undeveloped countries should just start gobbling up resources this human population of ours will not last much longer!
