I think one VERY important thing to remember about Bush is that he wasn't elected by the American people. Instead, he was appointed by an elitest 'electoral college' that presupposes rich, educated people can do a better job electing a president better than the people they serve. NO ONE AMERICAN'S VOTE IS MORE OR LESS IMPORTANT THAN ANOTHER. Popular vote electing an idiot is so far a myth, electoral college electing an idiot is a fact...

George Dubba ya will go down in history as the most morally corrupt, brainless meat puppet for the Republican party that ever walked the white house halls.
His Presidency showed the American people, that our votes don't count, that there are ways to scam, scim, and pick pocket the sytem to get what you want, especially if your Brother is running the state in question.
Everyday the "Topic" with politics is religion. Is there such a combination? How can one be morally bankrupt, money grubbing, two faced, sell your mother for a piece of the pie politician, and talk about god and religion in the same breath? I was always taught in school of the seperation of church and gov't. Now it seems that it's just one more toll for battle. "Vote for me, i'm a christian, praise Jesus, and the other guy is a sinner."

How about we start focusing on the important items:
Healthcare
Employment
Senior citizens
Gun Control
Homeless
Economy
The environment
Oil, Gas, and Coal (the removal of)

And stop focusing on the things we used to gossip about when we were 8 hangin upside down on the monkey bars. Isn't it time to grow up america?

Despite the political and moral failures of Bush, I see no social movement that you speak of. No one has even managed to mount a decent protest to a war that most people in this country abhor. Mr. Wallis, what do you say to progressives who do not base their values in religion. In other words, might it not be more productive to drop the "Christian" from progressive in order to gain more support. In the end, it does not matter where we draw our morals and values from since we likely have the same ones. We need a majority sir, not just another minority voice.

True that social movements will--and should--play a big part in helping to evolve American politics. But I think that religion is only one of the many ways that these movements will happen. And my bet is that religion will play much less of a role than it has in the past, given the increased role technology is playing in connecting people. We now have many more ways of developing social movements than we have had traditionally, and I think we'll use them.

The legacy of George Bush, Jr is a straight forward vindication of the policies pursued by George Bush, Sr, during his tenure. And a rebuff to the American electorate on its taunt of 'its the economy, stupid' which put paid to Sr.'s 'second term' chances.
