..Islam means to follow gods will
just as christ before him , he ..[may gods peace be upon them both ]..brought us into the true knowing about god [FULL OF GRACE AND MERCYfull and the truth and nature of the jinn ...as well as the duty of the 19 who rule over the hells[

ok jesus not so much about the jinn, and more about the sorting of the sheep from the goats and the wheat from the chaff ''in our fathers many rooms [heavens and hells]];;

...both clearly accepted their living to be by gods will ALONE ,but as the question is what is islam it is to follow gods will ....

...but as jesus revealed this is satans realm [thus the jinn are here to misslead us from gods will] ...it is wise to remember both revealed the most mercifull life GIVER ,ho is able to be known by love of god AND neighbour...the living god who's light sustains life into logic with love [good grace filled and most mercyfull iving god of ALL life ....none live BUT by gods will[no death can be said to be serving the life giver...islam means to follow the god of life logic and love [as gods GOOD way] [only god is ALL good] gods way s with love grace mercy [and life love logic]
...as jesus said even a beast in the stable KNOS the voice of his master [we have but one living loving master onmipresent eternal ight [life giver]..serving even the least to live;[god]good.

I think the societal impacts of the Muslim faith that she focuses on here are a side issue... she says Islam is all for democracy and that we are all equal etc... noble sentiments to be sure. But on the other hand her faith condemns anyone who doesn't follow it to eternal damnation? as do the other religions that follow the same God she does. Who is right? so much for being equal.
Wearing of the hijab too is a side issue... no more important than the right of any woman to wear what she wants and be free from derision, be it a bikini or a nun's habit. Far more interesting is the result of what women in the Muslim world endure in the name of their faith.. blind subservience to men, and genital mutilation if they are unfortunate enough to be victims of fundamental Muslims... this is the experience for a lot of her sisters and from her first world middle-class vantage point, she may ponder what being Muslim really means for some. As should Catholics in regard to the damage done by the Vatican teaching on using condoms in third world countries, and it's contribution to the spread of AIDS.
maybe if we could shed this superstitious drivel we would give future generations a chance at true equality? That would be something.

From who's perspective? Those that follow Islam or those that view Islam from the outside?
