No idea should be discarded but all ideas should be continually reviewed and be open to criticism, including the ideas in religious texts.<br /><br />I also appreciated Ayaan pointing re-enforcing the fact that Muslim's, as are anyone, individuals who have the capacity to make there own decisions. Groups who feel threatened by an certain ideology should criticize the idea and not the individual.<br /><br />Finally, the fatal flaw for the majority of religions is there infallibility clause. There is no provision made for improvement through new knowledge. New knowledge is actually suppressed. One certainty for modern society is the spread of knowledge, this fact alone will slowly but surely result in a wider field of individual thoughts and ideas.
