I have to agree, she was sort of off-putting. And I disagree with the way that she sort of limited Spain to only (and it is a big only, admittedly) Adria.

She's right about South America. Japan is a bit of a no-brainer. I think that it'll be interesting to see how a potentially liberalizing China is embraced for its food culture. Though there is plenty of food from some parts of China in the US, plenty is still up for exploration.

I admit, while I am a foodie (when I can afford it) and have lived in many places that she describes, I find her tone inescapably naive and simply bourgeois. She sounds like a callow snob.
