In boycotting the 2008 Olympic games, the United States is on shaky ground, whether the reason is for ecological reasons or human rights issues. The U.S. uses a larger amount of resources per capita than any other nation. We are also the nation that, at least officially, that the Geneva Conventions and other international treaties do not apply to some people due to twisted logic.<br /><br />There is a reason why we have Guantanamo as a place to keep "prisoners". While we keep prisoners there, largely to avoid guaranteeing these "prisoners" the same civil rights that they would have in the U.S. courts system.
