I'm not sure I could cope with that. There are somethings I don't want (need) to know....

Cheers. I have open communication with them. They tell me EVERYTHING. I am not quick to jump down their case when they make mistkes but I reason with them in a non threatening way. I believe affection and positive affirmations are really important in raising emotionally healthy adults. Also, spending qualtiy time with them. Let them teach you something they are good at and vice versa. If you are busy, make certain that there is a meal time your family unit sits together and talks about their day (not to lecture them!) about what they learned at school, what is going on in their social lives, etc. Don't be a snob! Know their friends and their friends parents! Keep the lines of communication free and open. Good luck! I think I provided Z & W with a flood plain and they seemed to settle their own course. It didnt always turn out as I expected or wanted, but its them, and its not all bad.

Not being a Mum (Australian for Mom) anymore shouldnt be to much of a challenge for you. Your guys are successful and they still talk to you, so you are way in front of the game.

All the best.

Richard
Bigthink Thu, 15 May 2008 08:33:20 +0100 http://www.bigthink.com/love-happiness/10522/#17340
