The higher educated a society, the lower the crime rate and of course the more intelligent and skilled the population. I learned in economics and political science that the wealthy give 3% of their income to charity where as the working poor give 10% of theirs, and tend to do so without taking it all as a deduction on their taxes or any public announcement about it. If we were taxed less, I believe the poor will give much more than the rich will all together. In the US, I would suggest a decrease in income tax, and an increase in sales tax to counterbalance it. I would imagine it would increase consumerism, which may help the economy. From what I can tell this tactic is working in other countries, like Canada. People with $$$$ would much rather set up, fund and support (most of which are) silly ideas, that really in the end do not help many in the end anyway.
Of the projects that do in the end help out a few more people... they are usually tied to a cultural, medical or business education foundation (both in the physical and financial senses of the word).
In the end, with the media slobbering for a 6 O%u2019clock news story, these rich folks end up pushing shinny silver shovels into the ground and cutting pretty golden ribbons. The icing on the cake of stroking their egos is when even with all this recognition; their names end up emblazed upon these facilities (even before they, themselves, have passed on%u2026 for yet another tax cut).
