There is an abundance of down to earth common sense, with the exception of religious belief, which still lingers on. One thing you can usually count on around here, though, is a general warmth and compassion that you rarely find as a visitor to large multicultural urban areas. The midwest is the neutral ground zero of America, and changes come slowly.<br /><br />If you want to discuss something strange, how about the southeast, or Appalachia? Intelligent, creative or ambitious people tend to get out as soon as they can.
