The majority of the people in this world don't have the time to
worry about fashion in the sense I believe you are using the word.
I think your world of fashion is limited to a small percentage of people. Most people want to look good, I'll grant you that, but
price, practicality and comfort make most things on the runway unaccessible to the majority. Clothing is ultimately utilitarian and
the effort to make it something more is a capitalistic more than an artistic endeavor.

I think that fashion design can be an art. However, it is more vulnerable than any other art form to one of the largest killers of good art, vanity.

In the words of Oscar Wilde "Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable we must alter it every six months".

Fashion does very little but give people a way to stake out social standing and groups based solely on what a person is wearing rather than who a person is.

Some may say that fashion is reflective of who people are but that answer wouldn't take into consideration that many people will wear something that doesn't express them merely to "fit in" and feel like they belong to a group.

Clothing is necessary for staying warm and all that good stuff but Fashion is nothing more than a way to make money and a way to force people to conform.
