Currently anyone who has an alternate source of energy i.e. wind solar.. cant even use their own power that the generate. So.. if down the road we start to have black outs and such they have to suffer through even though they have spent .. probably ... lots of money on alternate sources of energy.. the only way to use your own energy is to have expensive ill efficienct batteries that waste alot of the energy that is produced. Investing in a health clean economic future that will profit people instead of restricting them is the way to go in my opinion. We had lots of oil, we learned to use it effectively (not efficiently), and we used most of ours up. To continue business as usual, we need increasing amounts from elsewhere. We can continue to prostitute our values and morals to get it, or we make a better choice. I propose we let the war machinery starve. Conquest and empire are self-defeating. Instead, let's invest in education and research and learn to live within our means. Let's build the kind of infrastructure that supports healthy, sustainable lifestyles. The world will be better off for our efforts. Bigthink Sat, 19 Jan 2008 11:01:33 +0100 http://www.bigthink.com/policy-politics/energy-policy/3234/#3673
