The root of it would help everyone when you intially think about it. But I feel that the oil companies would find alternatives to make the end of the profits in their favor. Be it charging more per barrel, worker layoffs or lack of benefits. And besides I don't think we really realize how much big oil contributes to politicians, in many different aspects. Donations aside, many politicians find a happy home with big oil after their political careers come to an end.
