You simply cannot equate language to skin color. There would be no benefit in communications if you have the same skin color whereas there certainly would be if you speak the same language.

You say we should learn 4 languages? Where is the benefit to that? why not just learn the one? There is no logic to your argument there.

We should be able to communicate with one another, I think it might have saved a lot of misunderstanding and misery in the world if we could. This isn't about preserving your culture, it's about sharing it.

Oh yeah, check out a book by Bill Bryson called The Mother Tongue. It's a great book about the evolution and current state of the english language.

And I suppose that you want that language to be English? Why don't we all become the same color and go to the same church while we're at it? I have no problem with the fact that I can't communicate with most of the world.

Instead of one language, we should all learn 4 languages. Then there would be a good chance that one of them would be in common.

I completely agree! There is entirely too much focus currently on cultural triage. We are becoming one homogenous world and if you desperately care about an element of your culture, catalog it, become a historian.

I'm trying to flesh out an idea I've been toying with lately that all sales (as versus need) is based on conflict.
