There are simply not enough nursing educators to staff quality nursing programs. As I said before, despite my experience in Nursing and teaching, I would need to obtain a Doctoral degree in Nursing and take a major pay cut in order to be a Professor in a nursing program.There are many qualified people who want to be nurses but not enough nursing programs. Do we want to water down the educational process and turn out nurses who are poorly prepared? Remember, your life will be in the hands of the people who come out this program. Would you support allowing teachers to teach with only an associates or bachelors degree if there was a severe teaching shortage?And not to demean the teaching profession, but they don't make rapid life-threatening decisions on a daily basis.
