In countries like Canada that are very depended on natural resources need to think more about management and recover. Can't have much of a logging industry if there isn't many trees left. Also we need to be very aware of the cost of having an economy to the environment. This is very tricky when land is needed to be set aside for species recovery. I guess to me it all comes down to how much money are we as a society willing to pay to help re-build and sustain our environment. Should economic be re-thought? Should economic be based on growth or sustainable fluctuation? Growth over the carrying capaticy in all other nonhuman populations causes resource depletion and possibly extintion. In basic population ecology growth (birth) is limited (death). When or have humans reached their carrying capacity? Economics says grow grow grow. However, growth must be balanced or humans will die die die.
