I really liked your conclusion "We'd be better off focusing on personal non-physical spirituality, which is not speculative but demonstrated every time we exercise free will". I'm leaning your way on that idea. Your input will be appreciated. Thank you. If not, then there is an important difference between what I'm suggesting and Humanism. Clearly it's different from material humanism, but I'm not sure if all Humanists are materialists. I recognize that I'm not alone here and there is often greater wisdom when minds combine. It doesn't mean one just openly accepts that wisdom. Discernment is necessary and I've found there is a an inner place of quiet peacefulness that I can go to that helps me stay on focus. I find it interesting that many people in history who seem to have found that centre live loving lives and share very similar guidelines. Those who have some form of fear though often try to control things because they haven't quite learned to access this place and think their little bit of understanding of it from the outside looking in is the best or only way and ends up distorting what is being given.
