I think part of this is to make it seem like "the surge" is working. Unfortunately, any natural disaster, the National Guard is understaffed. Right now, we are probably the least prepared for any attacks on American soil since 9/10/2001. My point was that no matter what we want and what we put first on 'our' agenda, it is not 'our' agenda that is setting the course of the country. Until we get the government to respond to the will of the people we can't expect much. A good example of this is the last mid-term elections. Democrats gained many seats because they promised oversight of the war effort and a plan for getting us out of this mess (Iraq). But what happened? Nothing.. In fact, we got a surge. Did it matter what we want? Did it matter why we elected them? Are they even bothering to explain why they've not taken action? Many people feel the government is not serving the people, but election reform and getting the government back in the hands of the people was, conveniently, not part of either party%u2019s platform. We must force the issue by making it -the- issue. If we deal with the war it will deal with the economy also and that will get two problems out of our way so we can spend time working on other ways to improve the nation.
