The new battle waging right now is the battle of using animals for laboratory studies, Monkies and rats should die so that we may live. Ok, can someone explain to me the rational behind this? My dog is allergic to Grapes, in fact most dogs are, they eat them and die, I on the other hand love them and have had no problems from them, Because our systems are different. What affects a dog, or monkey or rat, may have no effect on me, or may just kill me. I have heard the arguements. If it hadn't been for rats and monkeys we would not have cures for many diseases. But my point of this is simple, What has a monkey or a rat or any other animal done to deserve this fate? When we have perfectly good lab. "rats" available in our prison systems. How about passing a bill and allowing these useless, plites on humanity to be used. I would gladly allow Charles Manson to be dipped in perfum and cosemetics to see if he loses his hair or breaks out. And all these men sitting on death row for 20 years, Pump them full of new medicines to see if they cure disease. I mean really, what's the worst thing that could happen? they die? we've already sentenced them to death, so who cares with they die, it all in the name of research, and is that more important? That's the justification scientists used when destroying all these monkeys rats and other animals. Use something that deserves it and owes their fellow humans.

Sport hunting the way Dick Cheney and apparently Gerald McCraney do it is not sprting at all, of course. For some reason these hunt this way for the same reason men with small penises drive extra large, jacked- up monster trucks. It is an ego trip and should be illegal. Michael Vic viciously killed dogs to impress his equally stupid cohorts and to get out animal aggression and frustration. I could not say if his penis was shriveled from taking steroids or something. Same kind of thing as sport hunting, but much easier to prosecute, as cruelly killing a dog by repeatedly slamming it to the ground until it is dead is somehow more inhuman than shooting a caged bird that has had its wings clipped so it can't even fly away. Actually, I think this monsters masquerading as human beings should all be subjected to the same treatment, castration, so they can not reproduce and pass on their defective "macho" aggression to future generations.
While we're on the subject, conservation hunting of overpopulated deer in my home state of Michigan seems allright, as long as the deer meat is actually used and consumed, and the deer herds actually need pruning, so the rest can compete for the limited food resources.
But sport hunting is in-humane and I believe it makes those folks who engage in it less human and therefore more of a danger to the rest of us. It should be illegal just like dog fighting or cock fighting.
Defenseless animals need folks to stick up for them, not to find new, more heartless ways to kill them. I don't think this world would miss any of those folks if they were suddenly wisked off of this planet and taken by some superior-minded alien scientists and poked and experimented on and finally disected all in the name of alien science. After observing these miscreants from afar, I'm sure the aliens would feel justified. I know I would call it eye-for-an-eye. Perhaps some alien already has a mantle of his own in his den of sports trophies. His pride and joy may be a few dozen heads of some sports hunters from Earth with plaques inscribed with what would loosely be translated as "Criminals of their own race, they died as their former prey, but the difference was that the Humans Sport Hunters deserved their fate."

Sport hunting is fucked. It's not a sport, last time i checked when the my team wins a hockey game they dont parade carcasses on the hood of their cars afterwards.

"Hunting" as it is called will only be a sport when the animals are equally armed & able to kill their human counterparts as easily as they are killed. Here in Canada, I've been told of how some people on snowmobiles don't even bother with guns; they simply run a deer until it's heart explodes. Now isn't that sweet? Yet another lovely tradition like clubbing live baby seals. Oh Canada!

There is an over population on both sides. We, as humans, are encroaching on wildlife habitats, but for us to survive and to allow enough food for wild animals, the population needs to be thinned out. As a hunter myself, I take trophys and non-trophys. I enjoy wild meat and actually prefer it. Trophy animals are not waisted, but utilized. As far as caged hunting goes, that is a complete waist of time and truly should be banned.
Now for controling the human population, that task should fall with our Immagration
Office's. I know full well the problems the U.S. has with illegals jumping the border. The same problem exsists here in Canada, with the exception that our Immagration Department is too politically correct to kickk their asses out.

i tried to answer your question. in mattmacks re. but i feel that by me doing what i can to survive off what nature provided is better for everyone. nobody needs to raise cattle or sheep or pigs to feed my family. i know its not much but if more people did this there would be less need to encroach on nature.

I understand your choice of fresh meat, and respect that. I take issue witht he population control, cause as you said, WE are encroaching on their territory, so I guess my question is, if it is up to humans to destroy animal habitats for our own growth, where is the check for human growth? Are we not the speciies that is becoming over populated, and causing the most damage?

also most states have size and sex limits. so hunters are forced to take larger more dominant deer. this is states choise not hunters.

i can agree with you on some points. like caged hunting should be outlawed. But i do hunt.but everything i kill i eat. i do not hunt trophys. i hunt game for the best meat.which in deer is usually a 2-3 yr old doe or buck. i dont hunt because i have to just me and my family prefer fresh wild game over farm raised doctered up processed store meat.these animals do overpopulate now because of human encroachment. we have chase of there natural preditors. ie. wolf, bear, mountain lion. so with no preditor to limit growth humans have to.
