good to hear donny, I def have no prob with the planet being peppered with them I think the benefit outweighs esthetics. On a more personal note, Im in a rural community so for me its a bonus as far as being able to buy my own system and produce my own power.. and the excess power I don't use goes back into the lines and the power company pays me...during the summer months when I don't need heat...the systems are roughly about $28 000.00 and still seem expensive to me but even at that price it pays for itself in about 9 years.

As you pointed out in my idea "Places to visit" about wind power in Cali., there are also huge wind farms around Palm Desert. Apparently these and the others you mentioned are successful enough that there are talks of putting wind farms in the ocean off the coast here. I think they would look better than the oil derricks we have and they're certainly more eco-friendly.

Apparently Pres. Bush got the ball rolling in Texas when he was governor and they are moving ahead quite rapidly.
