What kind of man is yet to be determined =}

So, there should be a plus between the [ ) and 63 ]? And that it? Or am I missing other(s)?
Bigthink Sun, 24 Feb 2008 10:45:28 +0100 http://www.bigthink.com/wisdom/7802/#9557 Comment on: Measuring Stuff http://www.bigthink.com/wisdom/7802 Sorry... It's not me. The BigThink comment-box is absorbing all the 'plus' signs. In the formula, wherever there is an operator missing, insert a 'plus'. I once heard that there really is no such thing an ORIGINAL discovery. Only the rediscovery of that which was already there.

I like your equation. I don't remember seeing that in Ignatius' text. You've incorporated the environment into the measurement. I'm interested to see how this would appear on a graph comparing DR, MD, WD and WMDs. Oops, how'd that last one sneak in there ;=}
Bigthink Sun, 24 Feb 2008 01:15:08 +0100 http://www.bigthink.com/wisdom/7802/#9503 Comment on: Measuring Stuff http://www.bigthink.com/wisdom/7802 Oh D.M... you burst my bubble. I thought it was an ORIGINAL idea [grin].

But there is something interesting to take from this -- People can follow completely different spiritual and religious paths, and end up at exactly the same point. Bigthink Sat, 23 Feb 2008 23:07:34 +0100 http://www.bigthink.com/wisdom/7802/#9485 Comment on: Measuring Stuff http://www.bigthink.com/wisdom/7802 As a land surveyor, I know a little bit about precise measurement. Obviously to measure one's day to the degree that a surveyor would seems a bit silly, but to take inventory every day is a good thing.

A regular exercise in a study group I attended, "Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius de Loyola", required taking daily inventory of your day. It was important to be attentive to your FEELINGS and the attributes during various periods of elation and desolation that you're going through. The idea being that when you are elated, compare the attributes to when you were desolate and when you are desolate, try to remember the attributes of feeling elated. I idea being that one, you remind yourself that the state you're in is temporary and two to try and reinforce the positive.

I also had a professor who recommend this type of daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, etc. analysis. He stressed that this is how we can measure success at attaining our goals and where we need to make changes in either how to attain them or to change the goal itself.
Bigthink Sat, 23 Feb 2008 18:18:49 +0100 http://www.bigthink.com/wisdom/7802/#9445
