About 3 years ago I adopted mary j blige's song "No more Drama" as my motto. I look for the good in everyone. I don't have time in my life for the 80 to 90%, lol so I try to absorb more of the 10 - 20% surrounding myself with positive people and postive things. I never allow myself to stress out when I can always find a reason to laugh about how stupid it all is to begin with lol.

I tend to think of the 90/10 rule, or if you are feeling generous 80/20 rule. Meaning everything that is worth something, in literature, politics, movies, etc., is about 10% or if you're feeling generous 20%, of the total. The other 80 to 90% is just filler. It applies to everything. I tend to search out the 10 to 20% in everything. Even a person I really don't like must have atleast 10% redeeming qualities.

I think that the more "advanced" we become the Less inteligent we become.
The theory of survival of the fittest seems to play out, When I was a child I would romp and play with friends, fall out of trees, scrap my knee and learn from it, and grow stronger through it. Kids now a days, slip on the sidewalk and break 18 bones, or hit their heads and die. We are raising our kids more and more weak each generation. A kid has to wear a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, neck brace, shin gaurds, oxygen mask and be wrapped in bubble wrap just to ride a bike, what happened to wreaking the bike and getting a really cool scar?

I see your point and understand it.
But even McCain seems to have a lot of integrity and leans a little to the centre. Either way, there has to be some real changes in America. A new president is a good start.

But is it possible to stop devovling? Is it possible to stop decline once it has started, or ia simply slowing it down the best one could do?

It's funny this year, for once we have TWO canidates that could actually do good for this country, and yet neither of them unfortunately will make it. In the land of "you can be anything you want to be in america!"
It will be apparent come Nov. that a black male nor a white female can be president. I hate to say that. It makes me mad thinking about it, But there is still so much preduces in this country that people will brag about obama and clinton then go into those boothes and vote against them. I would love either of them to get it. But I just don't think America is open minded enough to let it happen.

I'm glad things worked with your father. It a pleasant example, not necessarly how religion helped, but how something helped. When your father became anchored with something that gave you and your mother a chance to anchor aswell.
I understand your point with the in your face religious zealists. And I would have to agree with you.
I also believe that you are leading a good life and will make your parents proud.

But getting back to America Devolving, it could be a lack of anchor. Americans are barely afloat, drifting at sea, with nothing to anchor them. Without an anchor people tend to be manipulated easily. Perhaps Obama could be an anchor.
If they don't shot him.

I look at it like this, God can be a great thing for some people and the destruction of others.

I grew up with an alcoholic Navy Seal for a Father, Is Idea of fun was going out and getting drunk then coming home and beating the Sh*t out of mom. When I was 13 he went to church, later got "saved" and has been the greatest man I've ever known after that. My dad, who I once Hated and Feared, has become my hero and loved in his community. So I'm glad he found religion. It worked for him, some people need that and I don't begrudge them one bit for doing it. I have the problem with the "In your face, shouting that I'm going to hell because I won't agree and Beg for forgiveness."
I do believe in out side forces, not necessarily apply to the "God" Theory but I live my life good, and clean. Treat people well, and try to be someone my parents are proud of, And in the end I think that's all that matters.

You're asking the wrong guy when you ask, why does everyone make it out to be about God?
God means a great deal of different things to different people. I never get offended when I hear the word. For example some people interchange God with Nature.

I'll even say, if God is the spark, and the fuel, I'm still the engine that moves through this world. I'm the one with my hands on the wheel and my foot on the pedals.
And I'll try to thank God everyday I've got a spark in my plugs and gas in my tank.
And I hope you can see, I don't mean that in any religious way, just an appreciative way.

Thanks I picked him up and responded. Why does everyone always turn things out to be about God? Can't it just be Nature, Mother Earth, or simply just the way it is. Why must there ALWAYS be someone pulling the strings?

It was around 1999, when I heard about the mayan calender ending on 2012. At that time I was hoping for a cleansing, but to be honest with you, since that time I've had two children and I'm not so gungho now for an apocolypse. What I can't believe is how much one admisnistration could so mess up a country. I mean eight years. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I could never believe it.
Just to let you know JeffDelano has an idea: "what do you think is will happen December 21st, 2012?".

I really like the concept of 2012, this is something that the mayans predicted thousands of years ago, you know back when we actually used our brains instead of a keyboard and mouse. Today it seems that EVERYTHING is too simple. My niece had to have a calculator for 4th grade????? what happened to the good ole calculator our ten fingures?
As far as this country goes, another 5 or 10 years and we'll be the 3rd world country. our gov't is sending all its business over seas, the us dollar sucks compared to other countries. and our economy is collapsing. yet gas and milk keep going up go figure.
Maybe on dec 22 we'll be able to afford gas again. lol

I just checked it out breifly. I find it quite disturbing. All the crap they're trying to sell for an upcoming apocolypse.
"We're all going to die! Buy a tote bag!".
Regardless whether it's 2012, or sooner, or later, its a cyclical pattern.
Hard times leads to hard work, which leads to reward, which leads to less work more rewards, which leads to eventually, not knowing hard times, (the times we are in now in Western Societies), which leads to somebody, or something, being hungry and focused.
Focused on catching and devouring its fat prey.
And the cycle starts all over again.
It could be China. It could be what's going on in the Middle East. It could be a lack of resources. It might even be computers.
It will be something. In a way, I'm looking forward to it, but in another way, I look at my children, and dread it.

At the present time, yes. Generations of easing living has produced a soft and whiney society. It's a hard life that keeps you on your toes. It takes a great deal of self-control and discipline to refuse the trinkets and treats that are offered as substitutes for deep spiritual understanding. Most people in western societies are unable to distinguish the difference.
But eventually a hard rain is going to fall, and that deluge will purge society of its fat, leaving behind only the strong, and the hungry.

It is so nice to actually hear an honest, self oppinion, that isn't politically correct, or tip toeing around as not to step on someone's toes.
I agree with you that I'm not convinced that we evolved at all. at times I think we are still mucking around in the slime. We can't figure a way to conexist with anything! or anyone! Humans claim to be on the top of the food chain, but in actuality we are just able to shoot everything. But we are far from the top. Viruses and Cancers by far out rank us on the food chain. And someday who knows maybe another planet will out rank us also.

Technology today has set workers at a lower standard. Factory workers live on cold streets no longer because their lazy but because now there is a machine that can produce more product faster, straighter, cleaner and cheaper. People are out of jobs and American poverty is almost as much as it was during our depression. Politicians today conveniently only convey what "Americans" care about: screaming belligerently about hope, peace, order, and freedom. Yet were still at war, our healthcare is threw the roof, we have a nasty issue with immigration, and our kids have turned to more suitable ways to f##ck themselves up by stealing depression pills out of there mothers coat not because of their parents 50/50 shot at a successful marriage, but because getting drunk and high is an American tradition. Some think it%u2019s our infinite supply of good role models (Britney spears, Roger Clemens) and others claim its gods doing. But what ever it is everyone is just getting along famously. 13 year old girls lose the pounds and put on the make up because cosmopolitan came up with a 4 step solution to hide blotchy skin and unwanted fat. On television men are focused on sports and women are focused whose goanna be Americas next top model or American idol. Racism has basically vanished because police can no longer get away with beating up black motorist in the street. I know I know%u2026I thought they only took the bus%u2026 and the kkk who? The holocaust never really happened didn%u2019t you hear. And opera donating her money to the helpless is a front. (it all goes to her fat @$$) Its safe to say, in my book, that because we wrote everything down on PAPER (constitution) our population has gotta be pretty dam smart. The thing that bothers me the most about connecting dots together is not the ignorant people who would rather color but the overall picture in the end tends to usually be disappointing%u2026I mean honestly who came up with the conclusion that our species evolved in the first place? Or was that just something some one told you?

If everyday people ina park, or our current gov't, or daily media is not a representation of america than what is?
Should I travel to utah and watch a lady hang close on the line to dry, would that be more of an american view?
Go to any mall, or park or public interaction area, and just watch, these are the places that you see the "real" people at. This is where you see people in their "real" light.
