It's really simple, yet difficult for so many "sales" oriented individuals to grasp.
The most interesting thing is that no one is ever actually "sold" something, they chose to buy, whether for the best reasons or not, whether manipulated into doing so or by true pleasurable choice.
Sales individuals talk more than they listen, because they have been trained to believe they have to "convince, educate, drive information, etc.
Here's the read deal; If you do something the person(s) you seek an agreement with have not asked for nor expected, it's a complete crap-shoot as to whether it will cause them to "buy" or not.
The funny thing is, sales individuals are ready to take credit when an agreement happens (even though they would be hard pressed to explain why it happened without extreme justification) and promote how successful they are. Yet, few account for the unsuccessful attempts they deal with in totality.
Again, NO ONE likes to be SOLD, yet one can learn to sincerely, honestly encourage another's "buying mode" without manipulation.
I promise you, success created in this manner is much more satisfying than traditional strategies and tactics that don't work as well as they are given credit for.

Connecting-to-the-Value-of-Why 2005-2008 ©
Bigthink Tue, 01 Apr 2008 02:09:46 +0100 http://www.bigthink.com/inspiration/8511/#12962 Comment on: Re: What makes a successful salesperson http://www.bigthink.com/inspiration/8511 I want to know more about this, I will be a salesperson soon so I am interested in learned as much as i can before I start Bigthink Fri, 28 Mar 2008 18:34:59 +0100 http://www.bigthink.com/inspiration/8511/#12686
