These are probably the same or similar stats that are used in so called racial profiling.<br /><br />There are many instances when the racial stats are merely showing socio economic stats. For example, there is more crime in areas of low socio economic status people and, unfortunately, a lot of those low SES people happen to be of a particular group. Therefore, the stats show that people of that group have a higher propensity for crime, which may be true, but it's because of the SES not their cultural affiliations.<br /><br />The stats show a lot of things, but it is the particular bent of the person reading them that can skewe the results to show things that are not always accurate.
