Humans are now like cockroaches that have overrun the planet. Bigthink Fri, 28 Mar 2008 14:26:02 +0100 http://www.bigthink.com/outlook-the-future/9198/#12656 Comment on: Most Dangerous Human Idea? http://www.bigthink.com/outlook-the-future/9198 I try to stay away from "rght" and "wrong". I prefer to be more objective, and morality is basically a subjective concept. And if the authority you peak of is god, then all i have to say, first that authority has almost never stoped any "atrocities" and in fact increased them. Second we can not speak to this "authority" and ask what is right. The bible, koran, or the torah can all be interpreted in countless diferent ways. And finally no one will ever subscribe to the same god so there wil never be a universal "authority" everyone is "subject to hence it makes it almost useless if only some people follow it.

Now i do think you hit it with the idea of self importance. Most conflict stems from this (religious conflict also). People i think need to relize that they are no more important then anyone else, no more corect then anyone else, and that their morals, values, and wishes only aplly to their individual "self". I dont know if we can ever make people relize this but if we do it would stop them from imposing themselves upon one another. People naturally group people in their minds, this is more of an evolutionary characteristic than a human created idea.

I think it boils down to nationalism or religion, and I give the nod to religion being the more dangerous idea. I understand religion has been beneficial in some areas, but i also think the bad heavily outweights the good.
