Living a good life can be a bit like being a venture capitalist. If you keep on making small investments in other people, without expectation of immediate return, eventually something will come back to you that will pay for everything.

This isn't a spiritual phenomenon. People tend to gravitate towards other people who are open and generous because they make them feel good. They tend to reciprocate, hence the pay off.
