(this month they actually have ynwie malmsteen holding a staff being proclaimed the king) truth is there area lot of really good guitarists technially wise.

Guy's like buckethead and Ynwie Malmsteen and michael angelo batio all are at unbelievable levels of skill but influential? barely. Tobe unfluential you need to chahge the game guys like Van Halen and Hendrix are always named and Dimebag of course but that's because they chnaged a lot they wrote riffs that changed music. Let's mention Tony Iommi (dude's missin fingers for god sake)

If you could get away with it, would you kill anyone? http://www.bigthink.com/truth-justice/8707 If you knew you would get away with it is there anyone you would kill? Anyone that would be better off dead for the good of anyone?

You might want to say Bush but ya better knock off Cheney first (and what's the point this late?)

Anyways, if i have a tiny week magnet it can pick a paper clip off the table easily. So why is magnetism so much stronger then gravity and is there no way to harness this energy?

Even though it is the closest (by far) genre of music to classical music which is suppose to be classy.

If you ask me if Beethoven or Wagner were alive today they'd be shredding like Eddie or Dimebag.

Re: What is your definition of God? 100 words or less. Personal god? http://www.bigthink.com/faith-beliefs/7810 I like to think of god as something inside of myself. Kind of like my greater conscience. When I pray it is more like searching myself for guidance. Each person has their own "god" as does nature's every part. This god being an actual seperate being in the sky is possibly just a metaphor.

By this theory is god omnipresent? In a way yes as it is with everyone and everything at all times but it is not a singularity. All knowing? not as far as material facts but as far as knowing the best and most moral decision to make in a perticular situation i think yes.

When will an Independant or Third Party candidate become President? http://www.bigthink.com/outlook-the-future/6805 Ralph Nader just launched an exploratory commity to see if it will be possible for him to run in '08. It will be virtually impossible for him to win considering a lot of things expecially his refusal to take corporate funding. 60% of americans say they want a third party but when do you think will be the soonest possible time when there is a third candidate with a chance to win?

I'm thinking that this election if Nader wins he'll get a good chunk of the vote especially if Clinton gets the Dem nomination. But if people who want this change really get their word out what election will it be? 2016 before it get's talked about? 2020 before there's a chance?

There are way too many variables in this equation to make a acurate prediction. but I would like to hear some opinions.

kill income tax, highten slaes tax? http://www.bigthink.com/policy-politics/6658 I was watching TV recently and on one of the Late night shows (I think it was Leno) there was a presidential candidate porposing that there be a killing of the income tax and that a much higher sales tax be put into place.

This arguments for this are that with the tax bracket system you can get a raise at work but if you jump into a new tax bracket you could end up making less money. Also it would be taxing the rich more then the poor because the rich buy more (imagine a 35 percent sales tax on you're fancy new BMW?). Also it would make criminals also contribute because even though htey're getting their money illegally they steall need to buy food. If cars were suddenly even more expensive then maybe people would be more likely to use public transit, or maybe the tax would be much lower on Hybrids and such). Also it may encourage people to buy stuff at places were there are no taxes (instead of going to the supermarket go buy your fruit and vegies at the local farmers market, there are countless great benefits of buying produce locally)

Arguments against it would be that if people were to buy a lot of stuff abroad then obviously they wouldn't be contributing to the pot. It may also encourage people to buy stuff illegally. I think that white collar crim would go up as far as bussisness honchos buying stuff under the table form their bussisness honcho friends but i think that laws could be put in place and strongly enforced.

Opinions are very much appreciated. Are there more downfalls I am not seeing ?

Re: the weak argument of atheism http://www.bigthink.com/faith-beliefs/6656 The reason there will always be religion is that you cannot prove a negative (you can't prove god doesn't exist). For the same reason there will laywas be other conspiracies (you can't prove that there aren't aliens being hidden in area 51).

I think that fundamental Atheism is as dangerous as fundamental christianity, judaism or Islam. It is saying that I'm %100 right you're %100 wrong. Personally I've adopted agnostic views.

Does time exist? http://www.bigthink.com/faith-beliefs/6224 At first this seems like a stupid question but if you think about it time is a very hard concept to grasp. I have talked about this question with different people at length about this but usually the conclusion is met that in order for time to exist there must bu energy, especially motion in order for time to exist.

I've heard that it is impossible for a human mind to grasp the concept of eternity. I however believe it exists wether or not I can fully comprehend it.

Has anyone ever thought of the whole "god created erth in 7 days" IF THERE WASN"T AN EARTH THERE WERE NO DAYS!

What is the best dystopian novel? http://www.bigthink.com/arts-culture/literature/6222 There are many to choose from. What was the best plot line? What had the best message? which one is most relevant today?

When in discussion with friends about many poitcal issues 1984 comes up a lot. Does it with you?

Juat this week a bunch of fancy widescreen tv's have been mounted all about the walls in my school. They've been blank so far but apparently they'll be looping ADVERTISEMENTS! (like the telescreens inOorwells Oceania (1984)) This was a very exagerated example of how these books although most of them written decades ago are still very relvant.

Re: What is the Future of the Music Industry? http://www.bigthink.com/arts-culture/music/6221 The way the industry is moving is good and bad, everyone is getting their music online now which makes it more accessible and easier to find the material and what not.

However it will mean the demise of the local record shop, the death of an industry. Simply tlaking to other music lovers, recomending stuff he/she will think you'll like.

I have a favourite record shop called Lyle's Place, I have bought countless records and other music related stuff (posters, t-shirts...)

I know that the whole internet thing has the social element but it doesn't compare to physically buying something, unwrapping it and examining every bit of packaging, pictures and words while anticipating throwing it in the player (or computer) the second you get home.

This record store has been a fixture in my city for years and the most intersting people work and shop there and it's a place i can go and enjopy m,yself when the burden of math class isn't worth it. I just want others after me can expereince this but it seems unlikely.

Gay marriage is Equal rights. http://www.bigthink.com/policy-politics/5405 I don't think this should be a topic for debate. You can bring up 20:13 and so on but I say if you're an Christian and are against Gay Marriafe then don't get one! I cannot think of any argument you can deny the fact that this is equality through and through and it is shameful that only one presidential candidate (and a fringe one) would institute same sex marriage. Up here in Canada we've had it for a few years. Know what's changed? Nothing for the majority of Cnandians cause it doesn't effect most of us the gay populatin? well they're legally considered equal but the Old Conservative aristocrat types still treat them like shit but things are improving. The US has a long way to come
