Yet could it be that the state of our celebrity gossip is a dipiction of how society continues to view women and men and the acceptable behaviours of each sex?

In recent times, headlines have been extremely focused on the bad behaviours of women like Britney Spears (how many males have been neglectful of their children?), Lindsay Lohan (males don't use drugs or go to rehab?), Paris Hilton (sex, sex, sex... guys totally dont make sex tapes) and Amy Winehouse (Johnny Depp is a "wino forever"...). Is it possible that there are no males that are getting into "trouble" nowadays??

What about Eddie Murphy's two week marriage? Is Owen Wilson getting help for his suicide attempt? What's happening with Kiefer Sutherland? And I heard Wesley Snipes mentioned recently, but no idea why.

I am not one to stay tuned in for the latest celeb info, but I can't help but know about the above mentioned women. Is it that women in public eye have just been acting in ways that get more attention that the men? Or maybe it is that women are just wilder than they used to be and society isn't ready for it? Or perhaps this is an illustration of women acting badly and boys being boys? I don't know. But I do have my opinions.

Both sexes are capable of making bad choices, and we all know that it happens. I think celebrity gossip sources are going one step further of projecting sterotypical gender roles. I am well aware that this is not new. Stereotypes and the lack of gender variation is very clear within magazines with super thin female models with perfect hair, skin, nails, legs and teeth and ripped males with hairless chests, smooth hands, flowing hair and the perfect "package".

Maybe it's my feminism, maybe it's the lack of sleep and overdose of caffeine... Is it just more sexy to read about women behaving in obscure ways?
