Every time the ax goes into the forest, all the trees think, "At least the handle is one of us."

Re: Another Endorsement http://www.bigthink.com/policy-politics/2008-elections/7190 Although I agree with Legend's general assessment of Obama, it worries me that I hear more about his  "character," and the fact that supporters "trust him," than about his policy ideas.   With all due respect to Legend and Obama, Obama's lack of high level experience governing, paired with this vague sense that supporters have about his demeanor reminds me somewhat of the way Bush 43 was assessed back in the day.

Also, what does it say about Sen. Clinton that if there are few differences between her and Obama - and that she clearly has the upper hand in navigating around Washington - that the race is still so close?

Re: Is the media to blame for Britney's troubles? http://www.bigthink.com/media-the-press/7189
I think it's irresponsible for the media to refuse to acknowledge any ownership in Britney's decline.  Whether she's mentally ill, starved for attention, or a victim of crass consumer hunger doesn't immunize the media from the valid criticism that they are gleefully egging on this girl towards her spiral downward. Anyone would crack under that pressure.

I also resent the fact that we are unwilling cohorts in the media's onslaught. Those of use who are sympathetic to her, but feel that it's best not to feed the beast, buy the magazines, watch the entertainment shows are still witnesses to and part of the very dialogue that continues to make her relevant.
