Everst via. sattelite hook-ups, but I don't think that means that everyone that climbs Everest does. I read about one guy that biked from his house in Sweeden to Mt. Everest, climbed the mountain, turned around and biked home. No one would have known had it not been for the gagillion reporters that now roam around base camp looking for stories like that. Point being, there are always going to be great minds that choose to live outside of the technological and scientific progress that humanity is made. I don't know if Thoreau would have made that choice, but I imagine he would have.
