I've just clicked a "Recent" and wound up at "Education For A Global Economy" <http://www.bigthink.com/features/710>

which is exactly the same film as "Re: How will you ensure that our students can compete in a global economy?" (12/14/2007)
<http://www.bigthink.com/policy-politics/1380>

except that the former is undated, has no transcript, and none of the original ratings or comments were transferred with the idea.

Same here, I've just come across an Idea that wasn't even dated, nor had a transcript. Worse, I recognized it immediately as a feature idea that is many months old, but had been repackaged as new.

Since this idea involves a prominent political figure, I have to wonder why the film was repackaged, non-dated and removed from its existing list of comments.

When I try to update my profile setting, on clicking "save" I get the "404 User not found" error. I cannot understand what is wrong with my username. Actually, I have not found any field I can edit to even change it.

Additionally, I keep receiving Big Think emails on the former email account, the one I had before I made an update, just a few months ago, when I had no problem on updating my profile.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Its hard to take this site seriously when even the concept of a paragraph seems absent. I think it safe to say, thinkers spend a lot of time organizing their thoughts for the purpose of communicating clearly.

Failing to reproduce this organization inhibits communication. Making the posted thoughts look disorganized and harder to read makes your site less desirable.

I find the lack of it VERY frustrating. Especially when the edit field --where I'm typing this-- clearly shows paragraphs.

I reported this 6 months ago in "Site Bugs", but perhaps I didn't state it clearly.

BTW, my last post should above have read "your headliners" instead of "you headliners", and <br><br> was me checking to see if manually typing HTML tags would help. It didn't. And yes, that post has multiple paragraphs just like this one.

Good Communications require the ability to edit text well.

Someone, even you headliners, will have a hard time communicating their ideas when basic organization of a document is difficult. I followed the link from one of your email thinking it interesting. I found a huge blob of text that lacked organization into paragraphs. <br><br>

I didn't even want to try to read it. It looked like an email from one of my high-school-dropout family members.

Uh yeah!!! How about having this site function like others. With all the convienences? Is that the right spelling? Do you know if I'm just playing with you or if I'm really mad? Duh? I'm just playing but it would be nice to have "all" the conveniences. If you want people to come here very often you have to make them want to. We're all busy people, ya know! How much fun is a website that's a pain in the arse to navigate and use. Come on Big Thinkers! What good is an impotent thought! Smile:)

The only problem is it's hard for everyone else to join the game if we don't know what you're talking about. Please, do clarify. Not that I'll ever be able to find this again so that I can play, too.

I want to play here but the site is hard to use with any level of fun. My favorite form of entertainment is thinking and interchanging ideas with others.

I find it really hard to know what is recent and what isn't. I mean obviously I can look at dates, but in terms of ideas, I'd really like to be able to see them in a somewhat chronological order. Same with comments and responses. But mostly ideas. I keep seeing the Idea number go up, but I don't know what Idea that was.

"When responding to an idea, it's sometimes hard to know whether you're responding to the ORIGINAL idea, or a response to the original.
It would be helpful if the idea I'm responding to (or its description) is shown to me on the page where I write my description of my idea."

I find it very confusing, really. What is the difference between a comment and a response?

user "tngldwbstr" also had it right with the spell check and the ability to edit already posted materials.

Right now, I think you need to focus more on the organization of the site. I don't really feel like I can browse. I feel like it's more like a commercial where you see twenty different images in 3 seconds and they expect you to know EXACLTY what just happened. Just a better flow would be nice. I'm not sure how exactly or I would say so.

hello,

i'm very happy to get the big picture updates, but whenever i click on the link that says, "to read [x]'s full clip etc.," i get the main page for the person, and everything is dated from december of 2007. also, there don't seem to be any "full" clips, just answers to standard questions, like, "who are you?" and, "what do you believe?" in addition, the answers from richard cizik (for example) were recorded in june of 2007. this doesn't seem to be the most current info that the update email promises.

what am i doing wrong?

I agree, in fact I was looking for ideas in education and was shocked not to see a category. As for big thinkers in that area, get Jonathan Kozol if you can, he's spent time in urban centers and written artfully about issues of child poverty and educational equity. It would be interesting to hear from the current DOE head, and topic wise I'm always interested in school reform, ways to see schools be very different places, and ways technology may or may not help us get there.

Nepal,

Thank you for this feedback. We do want to engage viewers from every country! However, it would be impossible to list every country that we receive ideas from under our "world" category' without making the site too busy. That being said, we hope that as time goes on, users and experts will engage all parts of the globe in conversation. When attaching "keywords" to ideas, its crucial to list the countries that ideas are associated with. That way, when a user wants to search out "Nepal," something will come up! Thanks again, and we look forward to seeing your ideas up on Big Think!
