I have attempted to post a comment or response using the links provided. However, each time I am redirected to a page for Creating An Idea.
Hi Cogito,
There a slight difference between comments and responses. If you want to reply to a specific idea, try clicking the button that says "respond to this idea", that will allow you to respond directly to that idea. We tend to find it helpful to post as Re: whatever question or statement you are responding to. If you would like to post a comment, scroll down the page and you will see a comment box. That is the place to leave a comment. I hope I've answered your question, if not, please drop me a line at brett@bigthink.com. Thanks for checking out the site and I look forward to seeing your ideas!

A number of you have written to us about a most annoying bug in our infant site — comments aren’t always registering on the site as they should. We’ve experienced this bug ourselves in the past few days and, quite frankly, it stinks–there’s nothing worse than being silenced when you’ve got something to say. But, rest assured, we’re working to figure out the cause of the problem and correct it as soon as possible. In the mean time, we suggest you “respond” to ideas, using the button to the right of the small video player on the idea page. As soon as the commenting snafu is corrected, we’ll send an update through the blog.
This may be a clue - Often the 'challenge' is indecipherable and I need to refresh before attempting to post. If I do this BEFORE writing the comment, seems to be a bit more successful. Is it possible that the text is being wiped-out behind the scenes, even though it still shows on the screen? You could try making the post a two-stage process.
This morning (and I can't remember what it looked like last night) I have noticed that the "Respond to this idea" button is not listed on the question page that shows comments. For instance take this Walt Mossberg (sp?) reply to a question at http://www.bigthink.com/policy-politics/725
On this page (which shows comments) I can not "respond to this idea" To find "respond to this idea" I must click on "view all" on the right to get the view of Mossberg's response which shows no comments and only idea responses.
First, not having the respond to this idea on any form of the question response is counter-productive - maybe even a bug.
Second, having two pages that show the same video or idea response but one with comments and one with idea responses is confusing, and in my opinion it is user unfriendly. Plus, it doesn't allow for viewing of "all thoughts" whether they appear in comment form or idea response form.
I am using Firefox 2.0.0.11 on Windows XP Pro.
Hey guys-
I somehow missed this thread a few weeks ago. I think we've worked out all these bugs!
Brett,
I'm still confused by the "slight difference between comments and responses". This seems to me to be merely redundant semantics. No? Comments and responses aren't the same thing? What's the point in having two avenues for responding or commenting on an idea? I'm missing something.
BrettD posts: "I hope I've answered your question, if not, please drop me a line at brett@bigthink.com. Thanks for checking out the site and I look forward to seeing your ideas!" I've tried emailing, but they're returned as undeliverable.
Gaffer-
Our apologies for not responding earlier. Its unclear why Brett is not receiving your emails. When was the last time you tried emailing him? We have received similar feedback to what you have proposed here and are currently undergoing a massive renovation that we think we clear up the issue. We really appreciate your bearing with us as we work to improve the site. Another way to reach Brett is by emailing info@bigthink.com. Let us know if you get the same message. Thanks Gaffer....
