I think education is significant enough to have its own prominent category on your bigthink web site. The topic should be brought out from the dungeons of government and policy.

We certainly will take your suggestion under consideration. We are redesigning the site over the next few months so categories may be moved around. In the interim, continue to post your ideas to open up the discussion on education and please send us your suggestions for topics and possible guests. We would appreciate your input to build upon our education-related content.

I agree, in fact I was looking for ideas in education and was shocked not to see a category. As for big thinkers in that area, get Jonathan Kozol if you can, he's spent time in urban centers and written artfully about issues of child poverty and educational equity. It would be interesting to hear from the current DOE head, and topic wise I'm always interested in school reform, ways to see schools be very different places, and ways technology may or may not help us get there.

I must agree. I believe the education system is an iceberg. Only the tip is out right now, and I think by creating a category all in itself I believe we may start to see the whole thing.
