I don't think that people should be so set in a value system that they would see it as infalliable. There are no perfect values and I see no use in dying for an imperfect idea. Once we start preparing ourselves to die for an idea, we also prepare ourselves to kill for it. Why not settle for peaceful dialogue? Indeed, why not give the would be killer a chance to convert us?
