Question: Will technology help us go green?
Majora Carter: Oh absolutely. But I’m not one of the environmentalists that think that technology is going to cure everything. I really don’t. I’m a big believer in the development and support of natural systems. But yes, something as simple as going to a paperless society--incredibly helpful.
Really depending on that to support the fact that we don't have to do things the way that we’ve been doing. Technology is going to play enormous role.
But we also have to recognize that we have done some real damage to the natural processes of this earth. And we’ve got to use whatever we can, especially in our urban areas, to recognize that we can create a healthy ecosystem. Human beings are a part of that system. And we just have to figure out ways to make sure that we are being supportive of it and not constantly using it, as if it’s what we’re meant to do, that we were not born to do that.
