How CEOs Keep From Jumping
Long distance runners aren't the only ones who suffer from lonliness. It's becoming an epidemic among CEOs. And with this isolation can come great anxiety.
A recent Forbes article describes some of the anxieties unique to CEOs. Dr. Douglas McKenna, an industrial and organizational psychologist quoted in the article, believes that CEOs are more capable than the average person at dealing with stress, but they still must find ways to manage effectively. After all, the stakes are higher.
Apparently, drugs aren't high on the list of CEO anxiety management techniques, in fact they aren't on the list at all. Examples of ways CEOS wind down range from from doodling on napkins to eating chips and guacamole to, uh, running marathons. One thought: if it takes running twenty-six miles to relax you, perhaps it's not the CEO position that's the issue.
