Question: Should we leave Africa alone?

Warren: It’s pretty hard to look into the face of . . . of a child who’s living by themselves in a mud hut, raising themselves because their parents are gone and say, “Hmm, I’m not really interested in you.” It’s pretty hard to look into the faces of people who are working from morning ‘til night to sustain themselves and their families . . . and I don’t know. That sounds like the kind of stuff that you say when you’ve never been there; when you’ve never met anybody who’s suffering; you’ve never met anybody who’s living a different life than you are. But when you make it personal, and those are people with names and faces, that’s an attitude that will disappear in a heartbeat.
