What's the Big Idea?

George Church, Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School argues that science relies on a certain kind of faith. "It’s kind of an act of faith that science is a good thing," he says. And yet, the moral underpinning of science is something we may not be able to rely upon millions of years from now."

What's the Significance?

Church argues that the age-old divide between science and religion is solvable. "We can bring them together," he says, "but it requires less extreme views, or what would benefit from less extreme views."
