Question: Did you always want to be a poet?
C. K. Williams: No. I didn’t want to be a poet until I was about 19 years old. Until then I would have thought I’d be almost anything else and suddenly I found myself writing a poem and suddenly I thought that’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I have no idea why I thought that.
