Re: Dumb Luck

Uploaded on 01/10/2008
I fully acknowledge the role of dumb luck in my life, from being adopted at the age of 3, to selecting my branch of military service by which recruiter was closest to the entrance at the enlistment center, to not having an opportunity to begin my formal college education until the age of 39 years old. The expert quoted someone: "I saw my opportunities and I took them" I've learned to have a general plan in life guided by an attitude of awareness and flexibility, being open to respond to the random opportunities which present themselves, which can often be missed if I am trying to adhere strictly to some plan I have. It seems to me that cultivating an outlook of positive expectation re-introduces a sense of wonder into life in a world in which so much seems inevitable and beyond my control.
