I think the biggest fear the majority of us have is death and yet when someone decides to take his or her life, we hastily label them as cowards who have taken the easy way out. what say you?

Suicide and faith are both cowardly escapes from reason

Life is an absurd struggle between the human longing for meaning, order, and unity, and a reality which is void of all three.  As odd as it sounds, there is joy to be found in the struggle.

"But in the end one needs more courage to live than to kill himself."

"He who despairs over an event is a coward, but he who holds hope for the human condition is a fool"

- Albert Camus

One gives up the struggle by ending his life, or by accepting a truth without reason (faith). It has been said thorughout history that joy is found in the journey, not at the end goal.

Re: is suicide a final act of bravery or cowardice?
I believe this is an improper question as it creates a false dichotomy by suggesting that there are only two options. My sister committed suicide at the age of seventeen and it is because she led a troubled life and had some mental problems. Not everything is black and white.
