The 'North American Union' and the 'European Union'; is this what citizens want?

Uploaded on 01/16/2008
The U.S. Department of Commerce are "harmonizing" the laws of the U.S. with those of Mexico and Canada under the auspices of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP). The intention is to create the North American Union with open borders, (and eventually with a single currency) but this has never been debated by Congress. Two years ago several countries in the European Union rejected a Constitution to centralise political powers in Europe, but the EU has recently recreated 95% of the Constitution and renamed it as a Treaty, allowing governments to sign up without their populations being allowed to vote directly on the provisions by referendum. What do you think of these pan-national centralisations of political power? Are they good for business? Are they good for the people?
