It seems that education represents a startling example of a nonlinear response to additional resources. At what point in time does the marginal increase in student test performance no longer justify the ever increasing per student cost? Continental Europe is remarkably adept at producing unemployable faux intelligentsia. Only the most premiere institutions of higher learning can make any real decisions concerning the faculty they employ or the students they are forced to accept. There is a reason the U.S. dominates the ranking tables in tertiary learning: competition.

We need to agree to educate our populace about what education does for our children from pre-school through grad. school and its benefits for each individual and for our society.  An educated person can make good choices about his/her life.  An educated person is better able to make positive decisions as a citizen of this democratic republic.  Positive decisions will be followed by positive actions which can benefit the self and others.  Each person can be  educated on an individualized basis taking the student where they are so they can grow and develop into valuable contributing citizens.
