Assuming social tribalism, do we need ANY such dangerous obsolete religions?

Uploaded on 01/07/2008
Underlying Hirsan Ali's statements it seems there's a very pessimistic assumption that we are stuck with religions as a structural deficit in human society? But in a world striving for scientific education in evidence-gathering, why can't we just assume that evidence based thinking will result in the withering away of the church? Pressure needs to be put on individuals to create their own personal explanation of the world without some necessary element of evangelism, by word or sword or vote. We don't need theocracy -- it kills the human spirit, and murders the human body.
