Jimmy Wales is a founder of the online encyclopedia Wikipedia. He was born in 1966 in Alabama and was educated at Auburn University and the University of Alabama. Prior to starting Wikipedia, Wales served as research director at Chicago Options Associates. Wales describes himself as an "objectivist to the core," and named his daughter Kira after the heroine in Ayn Rand's We the Living.
