"Good" events and "Bad" events?

What is the difference between a "positive" event and a "negative" event?
The only difference I can find is that if you learn from the event is what "good", if you don't learn from the event then it was "bad". How much you learn from the event will determine how "good" it was for you. Any thoughts?
